Yes, Gods and Idols is and will always be free to download and free to play

This is as intended, the planet management UI is not complete, and planet growth is disabled until the UI is done
Why dont you hire more developers?
There is not enough money to hire additional developers, if you want to help out you can always buy Essence in the
shop
Is it pay to win like many microtransaction games?
No. The only thing you can buy for real money is Essence, which you also get by simply playing the game
How do I get Essence?
Certain buildings generate Essence and you can also trade with other players for it, for example selling planets or fleets
