Electricity Among the new buildings coming in the Foundation patch are the power plants. Several types will be available, using a variety of different fuels (Or in some cases no fuel) Production buildings that have power will produce goods faster and more efficiently than buildings without power.
Fleet upkeep As you build ships they start docked in the shipyard. Docked ships require very little upkeep, and no fuel or food. Once you assign the docked ships to a fleet, they start requiring several goods in order to function at full efficiency. For example, munitions and fuel are important to keep a fleet battle-ready, oxygen and MRE packs are required to keep the crew happy, and fuel is required for the fleet to move at full speed. Note that even without any supplies, fleets will still move and do battle, just very poorly.
